Turahn was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in Monroeville. He currently resides in Churchill with his wife Di’Ray and their two children. Turahn attended Gateway High School and went on to continue his education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law.
Turahn has represented clients in all stages of the criminal justice system in both Allegheny County and surrounding counties. He worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Allegheny County Office from January 2006 until October 2008. After leaving the District Attorney’s Office Turahn went into private practice and remained there for over four years.
In February 2013, Turahn was hired as the Deputy of the Pre-Trial Division of the Allegheny County Office of the Public Defender. In January 2016, he was promoted to Chief Deputy Director of the office, where he worked until resigning to run for the position of District Attorney. Throughout his time there, Turahn was an Adjunct Professor at the Duquesne University School of Law and taught an adult and juvenile Public Defender Law Clinic.
Turahn is currently a criminal defense attorney working in private practice.
